Highlights from day one of the conference.

The conference was officially opened by Pareto Securities CEO Christian Jomaas and Senior Analyst Tom Erik Kristiansen who outlined Energy Transition as the main theme for the conference. Developing Norway’s offshore oil and gas resources since the 1970 has created a broad industry ranging from Exploration and Production companies to all kinds of Engineering, Installation, Support and Service. All these players are dependent on and supported by a strong Shipping companies with a global reach. We now see another phase of developing our natural resources as the energy landscape is changing, and the world moves towards renewable energy sources. Many of today’s speakers are companies moving forcefully into Offshore Wind, and others using digitalization, automation and engineering ingenuity to increase efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of traditional industries. This is Energy Transition in practice.

The Norwegian Government is strongly supportive of the changes occurring in the industry, and have always been a vital part in developing the resources offshore the Norwegian coast. Prime Minister Erna Solberg greeted the conference, and highlighted the importance of creating robust energy solutions for the future.

About the conference

Norway is a leading global energy nation. As we move from dependency on oil & gas to renewable energy, the industry landscape is changing. The transition coincides with a revolution within digitalization which is speeding up the process . Norway has for a long time had a world leading position within energy and technology, especially within offshore oil and gas. That massive innovative force is now turning towards renewable energy and the new businesses it creates.

This year’s conference will focus on this energy transition and the digital revolution, and how traditional energy companies can utilize its position to lead this energy transition.
