Connecting Nordic life science with European capital

As healthcare dealmaking picks up, Nordic life science companies are looking beyond their home markets. Pareto Securities connects them with investors and industry partners in the DACH region and surrounding markets, helping turn Nordic innovation into international growth.

Connecting Nordic and Swiss healthcare

Healthcare M&A is picking up after three slow years. In Q2 2026, the total value of deals in Europe and the US reached a record high, while median deal sizes continued to rise.

For Sead Kadric, Victoria Kloster and Pareto Securities’ healthcare investment banking team, the recovery gives added momentum to their work connecting Nordic life science companies with investors and industry partners in Switzerland, Austria and the surrounding region.

Zurich is a natural meeting point between the Nordic healthcare industry and European capital.

"Around 50 percent of the capital invested in Nordic healthcare comes from international investors. Zurich is a natural meeting point between the Nordic healthcare industry and European capital," says Victoria Kloster.

Experience across Nordic healthcare

Pareto Securities has contributed to more than SEK 30bn in completed healthcare transactions since 2019. Medtech and devices accounts for SEK 11.1bn in completed transactions across around 20 transactions, followed by biotech at SEK 7.8bn and pharmaceuticals at SEK 6.2bn, across a similar number of deals.

The transactions cover a range of medical fields. Surgery accounts for 22 percent of capital raised, followed by oncology at 16 percent and rare conditions at 11 percent. Other areas include ophthalmology, cardiovascular disease, and neuroscience.

Companies Pareto Securities have worked with include Camurus, Oculis, Implantica, XVIVO, BioInvent, Surgical Science, Vicore Pharma, Stille and Sedana Medical.

Working with advisers who understand the sector and have established relationships can help open those doors.

“Companies need access to the right investors and industry networks to grow. Working with advisers who understand the sector and have established relationships can help open those doors,” says Sead Kadric.

Commercial-stage companies account for SEK 20.9bn of capital raised in Pareto Securities’ healthcare transactions since 2019, more than Phase I, Phase II and Phase III combined. Together with companies in late-stage clinical development, they represent the majority of capital raised.

Why the DACH connection matters

For Nordic healthcare companies seeking capital and industry partners, the DACH region offers access to pharmaceutical companies, specialist investors and life science networks. These relationships can help companies fund clinical development and expand internationally.

Swiss Nordic Bio, organised by Business Sweden and powered by Pareto Securities, provides a meeting place for healthcare companies and investors. On 1 October 2026, the conference brought together life science companies, investors and industry partners from Switzerland, Austria and the Nordics in Zurich.

For Dan Schneider, CEO of Photocure, the conference was an opportunity to meet investors and companies interested in developments in diagnostics:

“We at Photocure are seeing a move towards more non-invasive diagnostics and the use of artificial intelligence to deliver better results. At this conference, we’re finding like-minded investors and companies interested in this space who see the potential for patients globally.”

Dr. Marc Gitzinger, CEO of BioVersys, also attended Swiss Nordic Bio and highlighted the value of connecting investors across borders:

“Swiss Nordic Bio is a great opportunity to connect with investors from Switzerland and the Nordics. For a publicly listed company in Switzerland, there is real value in bringing together shareholders and potential investors from across Europe. It strengthens our ecosystem.”

“This is what Swiss Nordic Bio is all about, connecting Nordic and European healthcare companies with investors and industry partners from across Europe,” said Sead Kadric and Victoria Kloster.
